New deals for young six

Ipswich have offered new contracts to six of their young players. Midfielder Luke Hyam, striker Ronan Murray - currently on loan at Torquay - and defender Troy Brown have been handed the chance to extend their stay at Portman Road by at least a year while defensive duo Jack Ainsley and Tom Eastman as well as Conor Hourihane are considering six-month deals. Town boss Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "The problem with the younger players is that I have not seen anything of them in game situations. "I have been here for three months or so and I've only seen those lads play against the likes of Stevenage and Oxford reserves. "I've not seen them at a higher level and that's the difficulty. "For the lads on shorter deals, I want them to come back in pre-season hungry to show what they can do and hopefully win a longer contract."
