The defender had just recovered from a hamstring problem only to sustain a partial tear to the medial ligament in his right knee during training. The Northern Ireland international is expected to undergo treatment for the next month after manager Roy Keane confirmed his absence from Sunday's game. "Gareth will miss the Coventry game," Keane told the club's official website. "He picked up a knee injury in training and he's going to be out for a few weeks." However, Mexico international Giovani dos Santos has been given the all-clear to play despite being in his home country five weeks ago on World Cup duty.
