Man seriously hurt in hit-and-run

A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Suffolk.Emergency crews were called to Benton Street, Hadleigh, between Sudbury and Ipswich, at about 1250 BST. [LNB]The driver of a black or dark blue Jaguar hit the man, believed to be 50 years old, before speeding away south, towards Holton St Mary. [LNB]A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Trust said the man was left with serious leg and head injuries. The road has been closed off. [LNB]"We received reports of a male in the road with a bleeding head injury, he was unconscious but breathing," the spokesman said. [LNB]"Our colleagues in Essex have mobilised their helicopter to the scene to assist." [LNB]A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: "Benton Street has been closed off while the man is treated for his injuries and an investigation into the collision is carried out." [LNB]It is believed the driver of the Jaguar is a white man in his mid-20s to mid-30s, with dark hair.
