Magilton keen on top-flight links

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has admitted he would like to forge closer links with top-flight clubs. After signing Giovani Dos Santos on loan from Tottenham, Magilton told BBC Radio Suffolk: "While we're still in the Championship it would be great. "Getting quality young players as well as trying to promote from within our own ranks is very important to me. "Lads who aren't playing regularly in first teams bring with them the hunger, youth and exuberance you look for." Magilton also admitted he hoped Danny Simpson's loan spell at Portman Road last season might lead to more Manchester United youngsters heading to Suffolk. "It's difficult you know, we have made certain enquiries for certain players but when you are challenging on five fronts it's difficult to lure young players away. "Also when you're at a football club like that [Manchester United] it's difficult to leave and it's difficult if you've had a taste of it. "Again we will pursue these sort of things and if there is someone out there we think can add to the quality we already have here then we'll go after them and try to bring them here."
