Keane defends Rhodes sale

The decision to allow Rhodes to go to Huddersfield has not gone down well with a section of Town supporters. Keane, who wishes to sign two players before the opening game of the season at home to Coventry on Sunday, insists he has to ship out players in order to make way for new arrivals. "It's all about wheeling and dealing, which I have to do, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made along the way," Keane told the Evening Star. "You can't hold on to everyone and, unfortunately, I have to let one or two players go to bring in one or two of my own. "I have to make tough decisions and as I said when I came to Ipswich, I have not come here to be popular I have come to get the team promoted. It was certainly a difficult decision (to allow Rhodes to leave) but that is part of my job. "The offer that came in for Jordan was acceptable. As much as I think Jordan has a good chance (of doing well in the game) that will be reflected in the fee and what will come in for him over the next few years."
