Jewell savours first win

Paul Jewell was delighted with the performance of his Ipswich team as they edged Doncaster 3-2 to give the manager his first win at the club. Billy Sharp put Doncaster in front after six minutes but David Norris and Connor Wickham hit back for the Tractor Boys, who are struggling in the bottom half of the npower Championship. Sharp again levelled the scores but Carlos Edwards netted what turned out to be the winner in the 64th minute. Jewell said: "I was delighted. Given the situation we're in, we needed three points. "In the first half we were edgy but I told the players to retain their belief and confidence. We showed great character and were on the front foot at the start of the second half. "We changed the system a bit, created some chances and went 2-1 up. It was a kick in the teeth when they equalised after 10 seconds and the players' heads could have gone down after that. But they took the bull by the horns and kicked on."
