The former Leeds man deputised for the injured Chris Armstrong as the Royals ran out 2-0 winners but with Armstrong in-line to return against Norwich on Monday, Harding knows he is likely to be left out.
"Chris has done a fantastic job this season but I think he took a knock at the weekend and the gaffer didn't want to risk him with a lot of important games coming up," he told the Reading Chronicle.
"So he gave me the opportunity and I was thankful for that. Whether I play at Norwich is up to the gaffer, but I doubt it.
"I'm sure he will make the right decision and, as professionals, we will just get on with it."
