Arsenal left-back Steer made his first start for the club in Tuesday's incredible 4-4 draw with Aldershot, while winger Peters has made three appearances since arriving from Ipswich.

Both are due to return to their parent clubs after Saturday's home clash with Macclesfield and Stimson is hopeful they will both stay - although he admits Peters may be frustrated at his lack of match action.

"I'd like to keep both of them," he said.

"Jaime probably hasn't played as much as he would have liked but they've both said they'll let me know after the game on Saturday.

"Rene's got a good chance of starting again on Saturday, I thought he was probably our best defender the other night."
