Ipswich have defended the sale of captain Jon Walters to Stoke as "very good business". Walters was signed from Chester for just £100,000 in January 2007 and after scoring 32 goals in 146 games has joined the Potters for a fee which could reach £3.25million. Town chief executive Simon Clegg said: "I would like to thank Jon for the hard work, commitment and professionalism he has shown on the pitch during his career at Portman Road. "Recognising that every player`s dream is to play in the Premier League we are delighted Jon has achieved this goal and we wish him every success at his new club. "I am sure our supporters will see that this is very good business for the club. It is one of the most significant transfer deals in the club`s history."
