Bruce hoping to avoid the axe
Bruce partnered Damien Delaney in the middle of defence in the recent games with Derby and Reading but could find himself back on the sidelines after Tommy Smith (hand) and Gareth McAuley (thigh) recovered from injuries.[LNB]Bruce told the club's official website: "Damien and I had not played together in the middle before and it does take time to build up that understanding.[LNB]"Obviously it's better if you have a settled back four but with injuries and suspensions things are always going to change around.[LNB]"We have not been winning games either so the manager is going to try different players but hopefully I will keep my place on Saturday."[LNB][LNB]
