Balkestein: I'll win my place back

Balkestein has not featured since the 4-0 humbling by Newcastle at the end of September but believes Wright has shown it is possible to win a recall under Keane.

Wright spent two months out of the side before returning in the last three matches and the Dutchmen is hoping to follow in his footsteps.

He told the Green'Un: "Every footballer has his ups and downs, all over the world, and I'm no different. You have to fight hard to get back into the team, I know this. It's frustrating not being in the team at the moment.

"But I take inspiration from someone like David Wright. He was out of the squad for a long spell but is now back in the side and doing well.

"All I can do is train hard, keep up my fitness with reserve games and wait for my chance to play for the first team again."
