Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Dennis Wyness was left out of the squad for the 4-1 defeat by Kilmarnock due to the breakdown in talks over a new contract.

The 31-year-old was poised to pen a new two-year contract with the Highlanders, but now seems set to leave the club.

Boss Craig Brewster confirmed: "Dennis wasn't in the squad and we'll look at things and see what happens for next Saturday.

"I spoke to him on Monday and said the contract talks had gone on long enough and I just said I'm putting them on hold until the summer, so we'll wait and see the reaction we get from Dennis."

For his part, Wyness now seems determined to move on, telling the Daily Record: "When I spoke to the manager on Monday he told me the deal was off until the summer.

"It's his decision, but it's all very strange and I can't say I'm happy at all. I've instructed my agent to speak to other clubs.

"I'll look to get something sorted out over the next week and the chances of me staying at Inverness are now very slim after all that's happened. It's time to move on."
