Innes relishes Caley chance

Inverness Caley Thistle recruit Chris Innes has his sights set on making a major impact with his new club on their return to the SPL.

The 34-year-old defender left St Mirren at the end of last season, but has now secured a one-year contract with Terry Butcher's Highlanders.

He told the Press and Journal: "Competition is a good thing. The manager was honest with me and said Ross Tokely and Grant Munro will start.

"You would expect that. They are two good professionals and they have made me feel very welcome.

"At the same time I am here to compete and stamp my authority on training and in games. When I get my chance I will be doing my best to stay in the team.

"The manager has brought me here as part of a squad. The club will need a deeper and a more experienced squad in the SPL."
