ICTFC to get Hogg-tied up!

Published: 30 Jan 2012 - 12:05:53

Injured defender Chris Hogg will be offered a new contract to stay at Caley Thistle beyond the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, who only rejoined Inverness on a one-year deal in July last year after initially leaving at the end of the previous season to try and find a club in England, sustained serious knee ligament damage in December’s 3-2 home defeat by Dundee United.

Hogg underwent a successful operation last week, but still faces a lengthy rehabilitation period before being able to regain full fitness.

He will not, however, have to worry about his immediate future in terms of his present contract expiring with Caley Thistle preparing to give the former Hibernian player a new deal.

Caley Jags gaffer Terry Butcher told the Inverness Courier: "We will be doing that (offering Hogg a new contract). We want him to come back as a Caley Thistle player.

"We have already had a discussion with Chris about a contract, so hopefully we can get something done on that front soon.

"The good news just now is that everything has gone very well regarding the operation.

"It could actually have been far worse in terms of the damage needing repaired, but he will still face anything between six and nine months of rehabilitation.

"However, the operation itself seemed to be very straighforward and Chris was able to leave hospital pretty quickly."
