Caley wary of Elliot

Charlie Christie fears his failure to land Calum Elliot will come back to haunt him when Inverness travel to Motherwell on Saturday.

The Caley Thistle boss was desperate to sign Elliot after it became clear Hearts were prepared to loan him out, but the teenage striker eventually chose the Steelmen.

Christie told the Daily Record: "Calum is one player I tried hard to get last week but it just wasn't to be.

"From the minute he burst on to the scene I've rated him very highly indeed.

"With so many foreign players at their disposal, I think Calum has maybe suffered a wee bit at Hearts but there's no doubt he's a quality player.

"It's encouraging we have a young Scots lad so talented as Calum.

"Sure, I'd much rather he was in our team than coming up against us. But that's the way things go and we'll just need to try to thwart him as best we can."
