Caley Jags youth product Grant Munro is delighted with the latest group of kids bursting into the first team. CALEY JAGS defender Grant Munro says the impact of the young players has been key to the team's great start to the season. Munro - a product of the Inverness Caley Thistle youth system himself - rates 18-year-old winger Nick Ross, 19-year-old full-back Graeme Shinnie, 20-year-old midfielder Gavin Morrison and 19-year-old forward Shane Sutherland very highly. Ross has featured in all 11 games so far, Shinnie has started the last three games, while Morrison and Sutherland have also been involved this season, partially due to injuries to experienced players but also because Terry Butcher is prepared to trust the club's young players. And 30-year-old defensive stalwart Munro is excited by what he has seen from the four Caley Thistle kids and believes it shows the club is on the right track after years of relying on other Highland clubs' youth systems and expensive transfers. Big Granty told the Inverness Courier: "Like myself, Nick is a local boy and it's great to see him doing well since the start of the season, while Graeme has come in over the last three games and hasn't looked out of place, so it certainly bodes well for the future. "You then have boys like Shane and Gavin as well, but all four of them look as if they can take the next step. If they keep progressing the way they are there's no doubt other clubs will be looking at them. "However, it's a great place to learn here, especially when at the age of 18 or 19 you are playing Scottish Premier League football. "I didn't have that when I was that age, so it's great these young players have that opportunity and the manager has shown that if they are good enough they will get a chance. "For the fans as well, it's exciting that they are able to come along to games and see these young players."
