Proctor wants response to Dons loss

Butcher tore into his Inverness players for a sloppy performance in Saturday's Scottish Premier League defeat at Aberdeen and has called for a rapid response against Hamilton on Saturday. And Proctor, who has been an ever present in the league under Butcher, is confident he and his team-mates can repay their manager with another massive three points. "It was a long time coming but we finally saw the wrong side of the manager last weekend," Proctor said. "The boys knew we never performed to our best and we've all accepted that so it's just a case of moving on and reacting. "We've shown good character and bounced back every time we have been beaten since the manager has come in and hopefully we can continue that pattern of results and put on a good show against Hamilton. "We're under no illusions how tight it'll be and it's another relegation battle but we'll be up for it, that's for sure." The Accies have edged both encounters between the teams this season. Simon Mensing's penalty was the difference in January at New Douglas Park and Richard Offiong grabbed the winner in Inverness in week two of the season. Proctor, who missed both matches through injury, admits Caley Thistle are after revenge and to leap above Billy Reid's men in the process. "I've watched the games and saw them a few times on the television, so we're well aware of how dangerous they can be and also how difficult they are to break down," Proctor added. "Hopefully, Hamilton will be lulled into a false sense of security because I don't think they deserved to win those games. "But it's a different Caley Thistle this time around and hopefully we can shown them our gritty determination and edge them out in the battle for three points." Reid's side have stumbled of late, going 540 minutes without a league goal and slipping closer to the drop zone. However, Proctor believes the Lanarkshire club can survive in what looks likely to become a five-way scrap against relegation. "Hamilton were a lot of people's tips to go straight back down but they've done well this season and put on a good run of results a while back which has helped them consolidate their position," he said. "Fingers crossed that four-point gap between us and Falkirk remains going into the split to give us that wee advantage. "They have a tricky home game against Hearts so if we can get the three points on Saturday and create an even bigger gap it would give us real confidence heading into the last few games of the season." Manager Terry Butcher added: "We wanted to pick up as many points as possible before the split to give us a boost going into the final five games, although we came away with nothing at Aberdeen. I'm confident we can take three off Hamilton. "Others side may well pick up points but we are only concerned with ourselves and making sure we build on our tally. "We know a win can take us above Hamilton and would be a nice bonus being above as many teams as possible before the split."
