Proctor not intimidated by Gers

Walter Smith's men have hit eight goals without reply against the bottom side this season but, under Terry Butcher, performances and results have improved. Saturday's 2-1 home defeat against Motherwell was described as a "slap in the face" by Butcher, who insists they "have lost the battle, but not the war". Midfielder Proctor also believes they are good enough to avoid a repeat of the 5-0 defeat they suffered at Ibrox in November. He said: "Given the way we have been playing, I don't think we ever feel as if we're going to lose by more than one goal. We are trying to be hard to beat, so that we can take the points needed to try and get off the bottom. "It's all about getting focused for the Rangers game now. We'll be looking to put in a strong performance on Wednesday and that will set us up for the Falkirk Scottish Cup game next weekend." Falkirk's draw with Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday keeps the Highlanders within range and Proctor added: "The gap is now two points, but that's still just one win away from getting off the bottom of the league. It could have been worse, but we're still gutted to have lost." The former Hibs and Dundee United player felt the loss to Motherwell was a squandered opportunity. He said: "We are disappointed because we felt this was a winnable game. I don't think there was much between the teams and it came down to us losing concentration a couple of times. "It was probably the worst we have played since the new management team came in, but we were still looking to gain at least a point from this one." Proctor, who scored in last week's 2-0 win against Hibs, felt that they needed more width to their game in order to break Motherwell down. He stressed: "We were trying to get balls into the box, but they were not coming from the proper areas. They were being hit from the middle of the park instead of getting the ball wide and crossing from there. "When we did get our crosses in, they looked a bit vulnerable. The ball just didn't fall for us, yet when we made mistakes at the other end, Motherwell were clinical." John Sutton opened the scoring for Well after a blunder by Inverness keeper Ryan Esson, but Grant Munro levelled before the break. The visitors' winner came with a sweet finish from on-loan Celt Cillian Sheridan after a Munro slip-up at the back.
