Munro sets sights on more shutouts

The Caley captain was at the heart of the back four which held firm against Killie in treacherous conditions at the Caledonian Stadium.[LNB]It was the first time in 14 months Thistle have kept a second successive clean sheet - and gave new manager Terry Butcher his first win as Inverness boss.[LNB]Munro believes the foundations are in place for the club to fight for SPL survival.[LNB]"It was good to carry on from last week and keep another clean sheet to make sure we reach the next round of the cup," he said.[LNB]"It wasn't pretty at times - obviously the weather made it difficult, with 'white-out' conditions at one point. The clean sheet was the most pleasing aspect from our point of view - and long may that continue."[LNB]Victory over Killie is a notable performance, according to Munro.[LNB]"Kilmarnock have been doing well in the league - and we knew it was important to continue the good work from last week and throw it away by not turning in the same level of performance," he said.[LNB]"We could've fallen flat on our faces. But we didn't, because we were up for it.[LNB]"It was a pity we didn't get another early goal just to make things easy for us - because fair play to them, they put us under pressure.[LNB]"The sending-off [of Kevin Kyle in the 68th minute] helped change the game because it gave us a little breathing space and we eventually went on to grab the winner.[LNB]"It's a shame there weren't any league points up for grabs. But the Scottish Cup is important too, and it's good to get into the quarter-finals after the season we've had so far."[LNB]The Inverness captain has been a mainstay after recovering from injury in the early weeks of the campaign - and has played with a variety of central defensive partners in Phil McGuire, Jamie Duff and David Proctor.[LNB]Pavels Mihadjuks has also been part of a re-shuffled rearguard after making his debut in the fourth round against Partick.[LNB]It was he who put his team in front yesterday - and Munro rates the big Latvian highly.[LNB]"He took his goal well. He's been prolific of late with a good header against Hearts the other week...I need to get off the mark myself," he reflected.[LNB]"He's a lovely guy and he's been fantastic since arriving. The way he strolls through games is excellent"[LNB]"He's a big boy and wins his fair share of headers with an aggressive style of play. That's great for me, and I'd like to think we've formed a good partnership.[LNB]"His English isn't great. He'll give you a wee grunt or shout now and again, which you get to understand. Football's an international game - and you can play with anyone."[LNB]Frenchman Lionel Djebi Zadi also turned in another good display, with Canada international Richard Hastings on the sidelines.[LNB]"Lionel's come in and done really well," added Munro.[LNB]"He got his chance last week - and he took it. I thought he was excellent again.[LNB]"He's got all the attributes to be a top player; he just needs to keep it up."[LNB][LNB]
