McArthur a big miss for Accies

Midfielder McArthur was given a straight red card against Inverness in Sunday's 1-1 draw for a dangerous challenge on Filipe Morais, only minutes after Martin Canning had headed home to cancel out Richie Foran's opener. Offiong felt the red card was rough justice on his teammate. He said: "James is a committed guy and he went in and won the ball. He was aggressive but I think it was a fair challenge. "He may have followed through afterwards but he did win the ball first so he was unlucky. He will be a big miss for us on Wednesday." The former Newcastle striker believed it would be a massive achievement for the Accies if they could ensure another season in the top flight by beating the Bairns on Wednesday. He said: "That will be a big, big game for us against Falkirk. If we win that then we are safe. "Our home form has been good this season so hopefully we can use that to our advantage on Wednesday." Offiong insisted his side would go into the crucial match against John Hughes' side with confidence after coming back from a goal behind to earn a point against Inverness. The Englishman added: "It was a vital point for us. It has been a long, hard season and we were delighted to come here and get the draw. "I had a chance late on to win the game but the ball just got stuck under my feet. "At the start of the game we would have taken a draw so we are happy with the final result." Caley Thistle boss Terry Butcher believed his side's away record could give them the inspiration they need ahead of their testing trips to Motherwell on Wednesday and Kilmarnock on Saturday. "Our results away from home are actually better than our record at home," he said. "There is nothing to fear this week and everything to look forward to. "We have gone three games unbeaten and we have only lost once in our last five. We have to go down to Motherwell this week and be very strong. This is a big week for everyone." An Inverness win on Wednesday coupled with Hamilton beating Falkirk would ensure survival for Butcher's side. But the Caley boss insisted he is prepared for the relegation battle to go right down to the wire. He added: "I don't care when the club is safe, just as long as it is safe. "We do have Falkirk at home on the final day of the season but you want it to be done and dusted by then."
