Lonsana Doumbouya in the Inverness squad to face St Johnstone

French striker Lonsana Doumbouya has joined the Inverness ranks ahead of Saturday's Ladbrokes Premiership clash with St Johnstone.

Former Dundee United and Motherwell defender Gavin Gunning could also join the Highlanders ahead of Saints' visit to the Caledonian Stadium if he can convince boss Richie Foran he is worth a contract.

On-loan winger Billy King will return to Foran's squad after missing last week's hammering by his parent club Hearts but Ali Sutherland (calf) and long-term injury victim Kevin McNaughton (Achilies) remain out.

King admits Inverness need to get points on the board before it is too late, after starting their Ladbrokes Premiership campaign off in alarming fashion.

Last weekend's 5-1 defeat to Hearts was their third straight league loss in a row and King believes his team need to pick up a victory against St Johnstone on Saturday ahead of the international break if they want to avoid the run becoming an even more disastrous tail spin.

He said: "It's been a massively disappointing start to the season. That's three games now that we've not managed to pick up any points and the boys are gutted.

"But we've tried to stick together this week and have trained really well, so hopefully on Saturday we can take something from the game because really it's starting to get to that stage where we need to start performing.

"It would be huge for us if we can get a win going into the international break. It will give the whole place a lift and we can come back in a week's time for the Aberdeen game with a smile on our faces."

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright's injury concerns are starting to ease after midfielder Chris Millar and striker Michael Coulson were both passed fit.

Both Millar (groin) and Coulson (thigh) sat out last week's defeat to Celtic but have taken part in training this week.

Tam Scobbie is expected back in four to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery on Wednesday while Dave Mackay (hip) and Keith Watson (thigh) could return next month.

Paul Paton reckons St Johnstone will face an Inverness side desperate to fight for Foran.

The midfielder said: "I think they're just on a blip. They still have the core of the team that did so well in the last few years.

"They have a manager in there that they obviously respect. He's been a team-mate for a long time, so he will be close to the lads up there.

"I've met Richie a number of times and I'm sure he'll turn things around. I think he'll get it right.

"He's been big and brave in the last few weeks. I've seen interviews he's given in the last few weeks where he has come out and admitted the results were his fault.

"That takes the heat off the players and, for a manager to be willing to do that, I think the players will give their all for him.

"He's showing leadership, even though he will know deep down it's not all his own fault. But that means the players have no pressure on them going into this weekend."
