Williams determined for Inverness to be home force again

Danny Williams is looking for Inverness to reassert themselves on the home front against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The Highlanders, who finished third in the Ladbrokes Premiership last season while winning the William Hill Scottish Cup for the first time, have only won twice in front of their own supporters this season.

Those wins against Hearts and Aberdeen have contributed to Caley Thistle's modest placing in eighth, ahead of Partick Thistle and Killie only on goal difference.

The 27-year-old wideman insists it is time the record was rectified, starting with a home double-header at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium against Kilmarnock and then Dundee United in the following match.

"The last few years have been pretty much like a fortress here," he said.

"Clubs haven't liked coming and that's what we want to get back to, winning games in front of our home fans.

"So we need a good start to December against Kilmarnock and also Dundee United after that and so we will be looking for the points to get into the top six.

"Christmas is massive, we have some good games coming up and games we are looking to win and that will put us right into the mix for the top six, which is where we want to be and where we have been for the last few years, and we are more than capable.

"The football we are playing shows we are good enough to be there.

"Last-minute goals and a few things have not quite gone our way, with injuries and things like that. There is nothing worse than losing a last-minute goal and drawing or losing the game.

"It has happened too much this season and it is something that has to stop if we are going to get up the league. So December is a massive period for us."

Inverness full-back Carl Tremarco has shaken off a hamstring injury to declare himself fit. Forward Dani Lopez also returns from suspension while Richie Foran is closer to a return following knee problems.

Aaron Doran and Dean Brill remain out with knee injuries and Jordan Roberts is starting his rehabilitation after groin surgery.

Kallum Higginbotham will again miss out for Kilmarnock after not recovering from the ankle injury which ruled him out of last week's draw with Dundee United.

Midfielder Rory McKenzie remains sidelined with a hamstring injury along with long-term absentee Chris Johnston, who is still unavailable after tearing knee ligaments.

Veteran forward Kris Boyd could retain his place after making the most of a rare start to fire Killie ahead against United last week.

The opening strike in the 1-1 draw was Boyd's 191st top-flight goal and he is now just three away from breaking into the list of post-war league scorers' top five.

But the former Scotland poacher insists maintaining his place - and not milestones - is his main concern.

He said: "It was great to get back in last week but it would have been better if we had won the game.

"These records people talk about don't mean much to me now. Maybe when I'm finished playing I might look back on them but right now all I'm looking at is how do I get my next goal.

"I want to go get 192, 193, 194, whatever. I want to go continue scoring goals. But to do that I need to stay in the team."
