Roles reversed as Celtic follow Barcelona thrashing with Inverness trip

Inverness striker Scott Boden is taking no encouragement from Celtic's Nou Camp thrashing - because it will be roles reversed when his side face the Hoops on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers' side were ripped apart by Barcelona's superstar strike force on Wednesday night as they suffered a 7-0 Champions League drubbing.

But former Halifax and Newport hitman Boden admits it will be the Ladbrokes Premiership champions who will arrive in the Highlands looking to dominate.

He said: "I'd assume there is never a good time to play Celtic. But it's a game everyone looks forward to and wants to be involved in.

"We will go out there, set our stall out and try to get the three points.

"It's a different kettle of fish to the game they had in Barcelona the other night. There is no disguising that. Going to the Nou Camp is totally different to coming up here.

"They were the inferior team then - now we're the inferior team. They will come here looking to attack us but it's up to us to attack them and score more goals."

Inverness offers a more sedate setting for Celtic but Rodgers' attitude will not differ.

The Northern Irishman celebrated his first Old Firm game as Hoops boss last Saturday with a thumping 5-1 win over Rangers at a packed and frenzied Parkhead.

Celtic's opening Champions League Group C clash with Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night in front of 73,290 fans ended very differently, however.

Rodgers' men return to Ladbrokes Premiership duty on Sunday looking to make it five league wins out of five and Rodgers said: "We are very committed and very focused to winning games. We are going for a fifth straight win in the league which is very important for us.

"We wanted to make a good start and the opening 10 games will be a reflection on that.

"We respect that Inverness had a difficult start but in the last couple of games against St Johnstone and Aberdeen they have showed much better so I am sure it will be a tough game for us, like all the trips there before.

"No team will lie down and make it easy for you. It is up to us to play with our dominance and be as aggressive as we have been."

Rodgers claimed before his team took on Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and co that the game was a free shot for the Parkhead side as no-one expected them to go to Catalonia and win.

And Boden believes the same can be said for his side this weekend.

"You go into games like this and it's pressure-free," he said. "There's a freedom because nobody expects as much from you when you play Celtic, but there is a pressure on yourself to perform as best you can.

"There would be no better outcome than beating Celtic.

"We've just got to have belief. If they go a goal up, you just can't wave the white flag. You've got to go again.

"It probably is a mental thing but more than anything it's about having that desire to be brave and get on the ball."

Back-up goalkeeper Ryan Esson (elbow) and long-term absentee Kevin McNaughton (Achilles) are the only Inverness players missing. Midfielder Larnell Cole is still waiting to make his debut after signing on loan from Fulham.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths will again miss out with a calf injury in a team likely to show "one or two" changes, according to Rodgers.
