Inverness Caley Thistle Could Lose £100k

The Caley Jags will be well out of pocket thanks to the weekend weather, says club chairman. A SCOTTISH Cup run is supposed to be a financial boost for clubs like Inverness Caley Thistle, but the postponement of Sunday's game could be a financial nightmare for the club. Inverness chairman George Fraser yesterday estimated the cost of Sunday's postponement at around £100,000. A heavily waterlogged pitch after 48 hours of sleet and snow put paid to the Sky televised Scottish Cup quarter-final clash, and with Fifa and Uefa regulations regarding Champions League action prohibiting live cameras for tonight's rescheduled match, an £85,000 pay-out was lost to the club. Adding to the lost revenue, club chiefs are also predicting the attendance figure will be down by about 1000 from Saturday's near sell-out. The six-figure blow is considerable for one of the SPL's most modestly-funded outfits, but Fraser has put a brave face on the scenario. Fraser told the Scotsman: "It's a disappointment, obviously, to lose the extra income from the fixture. "From our perspective, we don't budget for television money as you're never sure what you're going to get come the end of the season. "As far as I am aware, everyone who took out hospitality for the Sunday is still going to be there tomorrow, so that's not too bad. "It's difficult to put an exact figure on what we will not receive in income but it could be up to £100,000."
