Imrie: Dogfight may get messy

The Highlanders make their first trip to the new St Mirren Park knowing three points can lift them above the Buddies and give them a good chance of beating the drop. With five teams all involved in the relegation struggle, Imrie knows it is time to roll up the sleeves. "It could get messy down there because everyone will be fighting for their life and there will be a few six-pointers," said Imrie. "Everybody's capable of beating each other so we need to get a few wins straightaway and make sure we're not needing wins in the latter games. "As a player, you want to win every game, but like the manager has said two wins might be enough to see us survive. "We'd obviously like to win all five but if we can't, the next best thing would be to win as many as possible and hope results elsewhere go your way. "I've seen a few games on the television and their new ground looks like a nice little stadium and their fans will get right behind them that's for sure. "But if we can frustrate them and perhaps grab an early goal, it'll get the crowd on their back and make life difficult for them." The Inverness men grabbed their first win over Gus McPherson's side when the teams last met last month. A Filipe Morais double rescued the points after Andy Dorman had Saints in front at the Caledonian Stadium, and Imrie admits the can't afford to show the same slackness in Paisley. He said: "The last time we played them, we were awful in the first 20 minutes but got out of jail with two good goals from Filipe Morais. "I thought their goal that day was a fluke, it came off Lionel Djebi-Zadi and landed straight at the feet of Andy Dorman but the more the game went on the more we came into it and deserved the three points. "It was a good all-round team performance and hopefully we can get a similar result down there at the weekend. "They've only been beaten once at their new ground and they'll be full of confidence, even a draw will do for us especially away from home." The 25-year-old concedes a win on Saturday would give the club a real morale boost and install the belief that they will be playing top-flight football next season. The former Clyde hitman has not scored since the 3-2 defeat to Hearts in January and would love to play his part by getting back on the scoresheet. "I've been looking for a goal since the manager's come in but it's not come yet," he said. "But as long as we're picking up points and getting results I'm not concerned. However it would be nice to hit the back of the net again. "Three points on Saturday would be massive for the club and take us above St Mirren and possible move seven points clear of Falkirk if results go our way. "But, more importantly, the win would give a massive lift and some belief we can beat the drop." St Mirren 6/5, Inverness 15/8, Draw 9/4
