Devine not worried about start

Inverness's injury woes means Danny Devine is unconcerned about their start to the Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.

Caley's third-place finish last season was the best in the club's 24-year history and the Highlanders also won the William Hill Scottish Cup for the first time.

However, manager John Hughes's squad has been stretched to the limit at the beginning of the new campaign.

Aaron Doran, James Vincent, Carl Tremarco, Jordan Roberts and Richie Foran missed the 1-0 home defeat to Motherwell on the opening day while Gary Warren and Josh Meekings were added to the list of absentees for the trip to St Johnstone on Saturday.

Ahead of the visit of Partick Thistle on Wednesday night, where Doran, Vincent and Tremarco are the likeliest candidates to return, the 22-year-old Northern Irish defender Devine said: "For the fans, the players, the club, there is nothing to worry about.

"It is well-documented the amount of injuries we have got and it is still early in the season.

"It is only two games in and the boys are always staying positive and confident.

"We were very lucky last year with the amount of injuries we had.

"But before the season even started we had boys dropping out with knocks and such like. But that's football,

"It is an opportunity for boys who maybe didn't get the game time last season to come in and stake a claim and put in good performances that the gaffer can't ignore."

Partick come off a 2-0 home defeat to Celtic where they barely laid a glove on the champions.

Devine, though, expects a typically feisty encounter against the Mar yhill men but wants Caley to make home advantage count.

He said: "It is always a tough task at their place and up here.

"But we are confident that we can get the job done.

"Any team needs to have a good home record if they want to do well.

"If we can make our ground a real tough place to come for any team, including Celtic and Aberdeen, we have a great chance of getting into that top six and doing even better than we did last year."
