Caley Jags Missing Rooney?

Terry Butcher refused to blame the loss of Adam Rooney for ICT's goal-shy start to the season. Despite the loss suffered by Caley Jags at Fir Park, Butcher was remaining positive, although he knows that when goalscoring opportunities come along they can ill-afford to be passed up at SPL level. And with last year's top scorer Rooney now plying his trade down south, fans are pointing to a lack of a replacement poacher. But Butcher believed it was bad luck - Richie Foran and Greg Tansey both hit the woodwork - and poor defending rather than a missing Rooney that cost the Caley Jags on Saturday. “I think the Motherwell game demonstrated perfectly that if you get opportunities then it’s important that you take them,” he told the Inverness Courier. “Richie Foran and Shane Sutherland had good chances, while Greg Tansey also forced their goalkeeper into a really good save. “We’ve made enough opportunities, but our defending was worse than Motherwell’s and ultimately that was the main difference in this game."
