Caley Jags Embrace Terracing Plan

Inverness Caley Thistle are pushing ahead with plans to bring standing back to the SPL next season.

The Caley Jags are looking into a pilot scheme that would allow 1500 supporters to stand at every game in the Caledonian Stadium. The Highlanders were given the green light to put their plans into motion yesterday after the SPL changed their rules to allow the return of safe-terraces.

Inverness chief executive Graeme Bennett told the Scottish Daily Express: "Inverness would like to introduce terracing. The supporters want an area where they can stand and have made that clear to us."We would certainly be looking at it as a serious possibility and it would also help our neighbours, Ross County, if they were to win promotion."With all due respect there are some games where the supporters stand up for the entire game any way.

We have the uncovered area across from the Main Stand and that is an area we could look to use at for a possible standing area.

"We will sit down as a board to consider how to take any plans forward over the coming weeks."Bennett also acknowledged there will be some reservations to the change, especially with what happened at Hillsborough and saw the introduction of the Taylor Report and all-seated stadia. He admitted: "I understand there are reservations after what happened at Hillsborough and that is perfectly understandable. "We have to take that into consideration as well."
