Caley boss calls for patience

Inverness manager Terry Butcher believes it is time for a reality check about expectations for the Highland club this season. Expectations had risen for Inverness after they established an unbeaten away record in this season's Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League with their last league defeat on their travels a 2-1 loss at Partick Thistle as a First Division club 14 months ago. That proud run came to a shuddering halt with Sunday's 1-0 loss at St Johnstone, the Perth club claiming a late victory through Collin Samuel's 85th-minute strike. Butcher admitted St Johnstone deserved their win, but while he criticised his players' performance as "poor", he insists everything needs to be put into perspective. He said: "I know we forced the odd save and hit the bar, but we didn't really create a lot and St Johnstone had opportunities given to them so it's not good. "There are no easy games, though. People say you've done it against the top teams so why not here, but I think that's doing discredit to St Johnstone who are a well-organised side who fight and scrap for their manager."
