Butcher wary of improving Aberdeen

Inverness are looking for a hat-trick of victories over Aberdeen this season but Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher expects a more settled opponent when the Dons visit the Highland capital on Wednesday night.

Butcher's side won at Pittodrie in their previous meeting, which had been billed as a game Mark McGhee could not afford to lose. McGhee kept his job in the aftermath of the defeat but it proved merely a stay of execution, with the former Dons player sacked following three more defeats along with backroom team Scott Leitch and Colin Meldrum.

However, Craig Brown and Archie Knox seem to have steadied the ship, and Butcher said: "It's a great game to look forward to because they will bring a few supporters through and they'll be getting behind their team because they feel they have a management team that can take the club forwards."

He added: "They are a different side. They are well organised and have new players in.

"Before with Mark, Leitchy and Colin there was a lot of uncertainty because of the results and the media pressure. There was instability at the club.

"But there is a good platform for the future now with a different management team.

"The players know the management team is there to stay for some time and it settles everyone down.

"They've had good results since then but it's our job to stop that and get our season back on track."
