Butcher wants Doran for next season

Inverness manager Terry Butcher will attempt to re-sign Blackburn winger Aaron Doran next season.

The teenager took his tally to three goals from eight starts since signing on loan in January when he curled a glorious shot into the top corner in the 3-0 victory over St Johnstone on Monday night. Doran, 19, is still under contract at Rovers next season but Butcher hopes the Barclays Premier League club will recognise the improvement he has made in the Highlands.

Butcher said: "I would like to get him back here because he is a great, bubbly character, a funny boy, but a good player as well. He'll work hard and play on either flank. He has definitely improved since being with us."

He added: "The goal he got at Perth was a great goal. So Blackburn will be happy with that but there are players like that we would like to bring up because they certainly help the squad and lift the squad as well."

Inverness moved four points clear of Hibernian in seventh place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with their victory at McDiarmid Park and Butcher will soon begin the process of tying down players for next term.

Fifteen players are out of contract in the summer but one player who will definitely be offered a new deal is Shane Sutherland, who had a hand in goals from Chris Innes and Richie Foran against St Johnstone.

The 20-year-old impressed in a youthful midfield alongside Doran, Lee Cox and Nick Ross, something which gave Butcher optimism for the club's future.

"We will be talking to the players soon and letting them know but our midfield in Perth had an average age of 19-and-a-half," Butcher said. "So that was pretty good. Aaron was one of them. Shane is out of contract but we have Cox and Ross tied up.

"Shane will be getting a contract and hopefully we will try and get Aaron back.

"I was really pleased with the midfield, the boys did really well, but pleased with the team overall."
