Terry desperate to cling on to what would be a historic top six position. Caley Jags gaffer Terry Butcher is confident that his club can cling on to its hard-earned top-six SPL finish despite being hunted down by the chasing pack. The Caley Jags consolidated sixth place last week with a 2-0 win over top six rivals St Johnstone, but the Perth club are still three points behind with games in hand. Dundee Utd and Aberdeen are also edging closer and closer to ICT, with the Highland club looking for a first-ever top half SPL finish. And boss Butcher has rallied the players and fans to help the club reach this historic goal. He told the Press & Journal: "I don’t see why we can’t make the top six. I don’t see why we shouldn’t, let’s go for it. "We are going to go for seven wins and it is up to other teams, if they have games in hand, to win them. "Dundee United and St Johnstone, teams in and around where we are, have tough schedules. Ours is quite straightforward. Apart from when we play Dundee United next Tuesday, we don’t have any other midweek games. "We are playing quite a few of the teams in and around us and where we finish is still in our hands. "This is a fantastic position to be in. "Think of the tortoise and the hare. We started off really well and had a fantastic September, October and November. "Then we had three poor months. We have been trying to get our second wind, which I think we have now. "We are way ahead of where a lot of people would have said we would be. But we are on course for what we wanted to achieve."
