Butcher Says League Is More Important

But he would say that after a horrible cup humiliation.....and what about the travelling support? CALEY JAGS boss Terry Butcher believes his side's focus should be on league points following the humiliating 6-0 defeat by Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance League Cup. The manager has come under fire from some ICT fans for playing a weakened team, even considering the number of players carrying injuries. The young Caley Jags rarely threatened Celtic, and will have learned little from getting the runaround from a coasting Celtic side. But Tel has no regrets as he believes the cup is a luxury - forgetting the fans that travelled down to Parkhead to see the best available ICT side have a go at Celtic and were massively disappointed. Butcher told BBC Scotland: "It was a difficult night for us, and it was disappointing. But Saturday against St Mirren is more important to us than this ever was. "It was a case of trying to protect players for Saturday and be able to go to there with a fresh squad. "People ask me if I regret leaving players out, but I don't."
