Butcher pleased with players

Inverness manager Terry Butcher has been encouraged by his players' response to his criticism following successive 2-0 defeats against Hibernian and Dundee United.

Butcher questioned his team's desire to secure a top-half place but they have a chance to reignite their hopes when they host fifth-placed Motherwell on Saturday. Butcher said: "We got the players in on Wednesday morning and had a good chat.

"They were the ones that did the talking, they put forward some very forthright views, which was encouraging."

He added: "Two 2-0 defeats have been hard to take but we have to look forward. It's not about what we didn't do, it's about what we can do."

Butcher is hopeful Jonny Hayes will be fit despite suffering a minor reaction to a foot knock against United.

And fellow Irish winger Aaron Doran could also make the game despite going off with a hip problem.
