Butcher hopes Rooney will stay

Terry Butcher hopes to persuade Adam Rooney to stay at Inverness, saying the Irishman is unlikely to fit in better elsewhere. The 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has previously attracted interest from clubs in Russia, England and Scotland after finding the net regularly for Caley Thistle, scoring 19 goals so far this term. But Butcher hopes to retain the services of the former Stoke striker. He said: "We'll speak to Adam in due course, see what he's got to say. We would obviously love him to stay so we will be looking to make him an offer that will keep him here. "Hopefully he'll sign that offer and we'll all be very happy. "He does dovetail very well with our system, the style and the way we want to operate - I'm sure he wouldn't get that anywhere else. From our point of view we'd love him to be here."
