Butcher hails battling Highlanders

Inverness manager Terry Butcher praised his players after they fought back to claim a 1-1 draw away at Hibernian. Derek Riordan struck an eighth-minute opener for the hosts but missed a second-half penalty to allow Caley Thistle to earn a share of the spoils. Irish striker Adam Rooney had already hit the post and he made no mistake with his own spot-kick eight minutes from time after Steven Thicot had felled fellow substitute Danni Sanchez. "I thought there was great spirit and attitude from the players," he said. "We've been unbeaten on the road now since November 29. We don't know what it's like to lose." "Going a goal down didn't affect our game plan, but if it had gone to 2-0 it could have been over. But their penalty for me came against the run of play. "A draw was probably a fair result. I thought we stuck to our task and while it was still 1-0 we had a chance to get back into the game."
