Butcher eyes Hearts scalps

Manager Terry Butcher hopes his Inverness side can claim their last remaining scalp outside of the Old Firm on Saturday by defeating Hearts.

Caley Thistle have made quite an impression in their first season back in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, extending their unbeaten away run for a full calendar year and occupying a place in the top six for much of the season. But Butcher's seventh-placed side's form has tailed off of late and they are now unable to claim a place in the top half of the table.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's match with Hearts, Inverness' last before the split, Butcher said: "We've beaten every team, apart from Hearts, outside the Old Firm. That's something we want to put right - we won't meet them again after this."

Butcher is proud of his players' performances this term after winning promotion to the top flight last season and hopes to finish with a flourish by clinching seventh place.

He added: "We just can't believe we've come so far in such a short space of time.

"We had an incredible season last season and we've carried it on this season.

"We want to finish as high as we can - seventh is a target for us.

"We want to win every game we can and get to that position - that's our target.

"We want to win games, we want to pick up points, we want to crack on and see where that takes us."
