Butcher embarrassed by defending

Caley Jags gaffer and former England centre back Terry Butcher is ashamed of his team's defending so far this season.

Butch was furious that two defensive lapses allowed Hearts to claim all three points in the Scottish Capital on Saturday.

And without a clean sheet so far this season, Butcher is acutely aware of the current Inverness team's defensive problems.

The ICT boss has warned that if there is not a marked upturn in their defensive fortunes next month then he will use the forthcoming transfer window to try and remedy these frailties.

"We have got eight recognised defenders at the club just now and any combination we’ve used hasn’t been right for the majority of games we’ve played so far," Butcher told the Inverness Courier.

"We now have five games to play in December — two at home and three away — and if they can’t do the business then we’ll look to bring someone in."

The Caley Jags currently have an SPL average of conceding two goals for every game they played so far in the league this season.

"That record is embarrassing for me," Butcher adds. "It’s very demoralising and to have lost 10 games already in the league, while winning just three, is extremely disappointing."
