Butcher denies Rooney reports

Inverness manager Terry Butcher insists there have been no approaches for Adam Rooney despite reports the striker could be on his way to Russia.

Reports claim former Chelsea and Romania player Dan Petrescu is lining up a bid to take the Irishman to his Russian top-flight side Kuban Krasnodar.

"The boys have been calling him Oleg and comrade, he's been getting pelters. There's nothing in that and still nothing in that. That's actually created a bit of fun in the dressing room and that's all it is, a piece of nonsense as far as we're concerned," said Rooney.

"We have had no contact from anyone about any of my players.

"It's still early in the transfer window, I think the bulk of the business will be done towards the end."

Butcher is looking to be involved in such business although he is restricted by finances to a large degree.

And much will depend on whether Kevin McCann can recover quickly enough from a knee injury to extend his loan deal from Hibernian before the transfer window closes.

Butcher said: "We'll wait and see what Kevin McCann's surgeon says.

"A fully-fit Kevin McCann is a great asset to any team. He has only played nine games but he has been excellent for us and he's a great kid as well.

"We'll wait and see but it would be nice to extend that loan or get someone else in. Possibly we may do a bit of business but players have to go out before other players come in."
