Butcher braced for `bedlam' of transfer scramble

Inverness manager Terry Butcher is relishing the end of the transfer window "chaos" after feeling speculation surrounding top goalscorer Adam Rooney has affected his team. Rooney has been the subject of interest from Russian side Kuban Krasnodar, while Hibernian have spoken to him over a summer move and Young Boys of Berne have also confirmed their interest in a pre-contract deal. Inverness have not won a Clydesdale Bank Premier league game in January, although that winless streak now stretches back nine games to November. Butcher has been encouraged by performances in recent weeks, with a narrow defeat to Rangers being sandwiched by draws against Motherwell and Hamilton, and he feels his players are looking sharper ahead of the visit of Aberdeen. But he admits he is relieved that the game signals the last time they play during the transfer window. The Caley Thistle manager said: "I think when the transfer window ends on Monday, I feel there will be a reawakening of everyone to say `let's focus and finish the season as we started it'. There is no doubt that people get deflected because of bids there and alleged interest here, and agents saying this and clubs saying that - especially the last week of the transfer window. It's bedlam in a way and it creates chaos. "I'm not saying we've had a lot of interest for players, it was only Adam really. But Adam is our top scorer, he leads the line, he has played a fantastic role in what we've achieved. Sometimes that uncertainty not only surrounds Adam but the rest of the players as well. As a club we will be glad when this window shuts, we can move on and see where we go from there."
