Butcher basks in excellent week

Manager Terry Butcher is looking to cap a "fairytale" week by leading Inverness into third place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with victory over former club Motherwell. Butcher collected an honorary degree from Southampton Solent University on Monday before receiving the SPL manager of the month award on Thursday. While Butcher did not have to study for his degree, he believes the SPL prize was the reward for a year of hard work from everyone involved with Inverness. "It's been a remarkable week," Butcher said. "It's been a bit of a fairytale and hopefully we can get three points to round it off. My son graduated on Monday five minutes before me and I have been honoured to get the award, it was a bit of shock. "It has been a great team effort for the year. We came from nowhere to win the league and that's the result of a lot of hard work from a lot of people. It goes back a year, we have built the team and the club, it has regenerated itself after relegation. This time last year we were sixth or seventh in the league and there was doom and gloom. "From that we built a system and got some momentum and now each player understands his team-mates a lot more. We have a wonderful team ethic and spirit and we are not going to rest on our laurels. There is a lot more to do. The players realise we are in a great position so let's crack on and see what we can do now."
