Butcher baffled by Rooney miss

Inverness striker Adam Rooney will find it hard to explain how he failed to get a hat-trick in his side's 5-1 thrashing of Morton in the Scottish Cup fifth round. Rooney had already netted twice at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium before he was gifted a chance for his 17th goal of the season. Substitute David Proctor whizzed a low ball across the face of the goal and the Highlanders' top scorer stumbled and miskicked from three yards out when the net was unguarded. "Adam Rooney will have to explain that bizarre miss, which was the mother of all misses," Inverness manager Terry Butcher said. "I don't think I've ever seen a worse miss in my life and he's going to find that hard to explain. I'm sure anybody could have scored that one."
