Butch Ready To Wield The Axe

Caley Jags gaffer Terry Butcher is prepared to give his fringe players a chance as he looks to turn around the fortunes of the club.

Butcher will personally oversee a scheduled bounce match for the Highland Capital club tomorrow against St Johnstone at Stirling University.

The likes of Josh Meekings, Kenny Gillet, Roman Golobart, Lee Cox, Gavin Morrison, Aidan Chippendale, Shane Sutherland and Billy McKay could all feature.

Having kept faith with the same side for three games now following the win over St Mirren before this month’s international break, Butcher is now examining the options available to him within his first-team squad after Caley Thistle disappointed in a loss at St Johnstone before being held to a draw at home by Dunfermline on Saturday.

Butcher told the Inverness Courier: "The bounce game against St Johnstone is a chance for those involved to put their case forward for Saturday and I really hope the players who feature can do that.

"There would be something wrong with the players that have not been in the side of late if they did not see there was a chance there as we’ve had the good, the bad and the ugly in our last three games."
