    Ten-man Inter edge victory

    14 Sep 2008 - 10:35:56

Internazionale had to overcome a one-goal and one-man deficit to register a controversial 2-1 win over Catania in the San Siro.

Jose Mourinho's side needed two own goals to help them take all three points, with summer signing Sulley Muntari sent off right on the stroke of half-time for a clash with Giacomo Tedesco.

Muntari insisted after the game: "The referee saw that I lifted my arm and he's right in that I should not do that, but I was just protecting the ball.

"Having said that, not even a child would have fallen in such a dramatic fashion."

Tedesco himself added: "I didn't do any play-acting and in fact have a split lip.

"Some of the Inter players even kicked me and pulled my hair while I was on the ground, these things just should not happen."

Meanwhile, Roma were beaten 3-1 at Palermo, despite Julio Baptista registering his first goal for his new club.

Fabrizio Miccoli struck twice to give the home side the lead just before the hour mark and Edison Cavani wrapped up the points 18 minutes from time.

I respect Jose Mourinho because i know he has all it takes to send inter to the finals. He did it for us at Stamford bridge. He can still do it again.
