Ranieri warns against Cup complacency
Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri is determined not to let his side get complacent following their crucial derby victory over champions AC Milan at the weekend.
Inter host Genoa in the Italian Cup on Thursday and Ranieri is keen to ensure his side doesn't relax following their league success.
Having endured a disastrous start to the season, Inter are now back in title contention after eight wins in nine matches.
"This is a team that in the past has shown it knows how to manage euphoric moments," said Ranieri.
"Not just that, but because this is a team that knows how to win and wants to keep winning.
"We've already shown several times this season that we're capable of relaxing but now we must prove that we know how to walk and run."
Although the Italian Cup is much maligned in Italy, Ranieri insists that as holders his side are determined to win it.
However, he admitted he will be using the game to give squad players a chance, amongst those Wesley Sneijder and Diego Forlan, who are just back from injury and need to get some mileage into their legs.
"It counts a lot, Inter won the last two editions and we're up for it," said Ranieri.
"We're playing Genoa and it will surely be a great game, I just hope our fans come to support us, even if it's cold!
"That's what both myself and the lads want, to get many people back into the stands.
"I have many players who deserve to play, not just the ones who play the most.
"I want to give them the opportunity because they deserve it but let's be sure, we have to win."
It means Sneijder and Forlan will definitely be getting their chance to shine.
"Of course, I've already said so. These are two players who need to be inserted into this group, which started from scratch, lost, struggled, raised its head, fought and found cohesion.
"Those two, having been injured, didn't live through all this, other than from the margins, and hence have to come back into this mentality that I like.
"Therefore, if they want to play, they have to do so with this determination."
