Mourinho fears Chivu absence

Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho fears that key defender Cristian Chivu is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a suspected fractured skull

The Romania international was involved in a sickening clash of heads with Chievo captain Sergio Pellissier during Inter's 1-0 Serie A victory on Wednesday.

Chivu was immediately taken to hospital and Mourinho is fearing the worst for his influential central defender.

"He is in hospital," confirmed Mourinho after the game.

"He has a skull fracture and we hope he can return as soon as possible, but I think he will stay off the pitch for a long time."
