Mourinho backs Ferrara

Jose Mourinho has leapt to the defence of Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara ahead of their Coppa Italia meeting with his Internazionale side on Thursday.

Ferrara is rumoured to be on borrowed time at the Stadio Olimpico following an erratic first season at the helm of the Turin club.

But speaking ahead of the quarter-final tie, Mourinho has taken a swipe at what he believes is the impatient nature of Italian football.

The Portuguese coach's own future at the helm of the reigning champions and Serie A leaders has been brought into question at times during the season.

"In Italy, if a coach starts and ends a season in the same club he is not a coach but a hero," he mused.

"Every coach experiences beautiful and difficult times and at this point, Ferrara is not living through an easy situation."
