Moratti hopeful over Mancini

01 May 2008 - 12:12:29

Internazionale president Massimo Moratti is hoping a third straight Serie A title will persuade unsettled coach Roberto Mancini to remain in charge.

Mancini's future has been open to intense speculation following his initial claim that he would walk away from Inter this summer following their early exit from the Champions League.

But Moratti remains firmly behind his coach and hopes the Scudetto will keep him at the San Siro for at least one more season.

Inter could claim the league title if they beat city rivals AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday afternoon.

"For the club and for myself, Mancini's position is certain," said Moratti. "But it depends on what he wants to do and on his decisions.

"For me he is a winner and the rumours surrounding coaching changes are just created because there always has to be something said about Inter.

"Sunday's game is important for us but I know it is also important for Milan."

Meanwhile, France midfielder Patrick Vieira has revealed he hopes to end his career with the club.

The former Arsenal midfielder joined Inter from rivals Juventus in 2006 but has seen his stay with the champions blighted by a succession of injuries.
