Jose handed three-match ban
23 Feb 2010 - 09:03:54
Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho has been fined and handed a three-match touchline ban following the tempestuous goalless draw against Sampdoria.
The former FC Porto and Chelsea coach appeared to make a handcuffs gesture after his side were reduced to nine men in the first half following the dismissals of Walter Samuel and Ivan Cordoba.
Mourinho also began laughing hysterically when Samuel Eto'o was booked for a dive in the penalty area.
A ruling decided that Mourinho: "Repeatedly challenged the officials through blatant actions and used insulting expressions towards the referees and his assistants.
"He also questioned the presence of the federal prosecutors by the Inter and Sampdoria benches during the second half of the game."
In addition, both Samuel and Cordoba have been banned for one Serie A match, while Esteban Cambiasso and Sulley Muntari have been handed two-match suspensions.
Cambiasso allegedly tried to punch a Sampdoria player on his way to the dressing room at half-time, while Ghana international Muntari repeatedly insulted the match officials as he was being substituted.
