Inter Milan: Nine January Transfers That Could Happen

With the January Transfer window looming – certain rumours have been thrown around since the beginning of the 12/13 season. Here I will take a look at the top 5 potential 'comings and goings' that will affect Inter Milan.

With only £58,000,000 spent in The British Transfer Market last January – it is fair to say that compared to the summer window, top flight managers are much more reluctant to spend. That said – with such success stories like Papiss Cisse and Nikica Jelavic people may wonder why managers do not spend? Of course, the likes of big spenders Manchester City and Chelsea are in the latter stages of assmebling their squads to challenge domestically and on the continent.

In this article – I will look at transfer rumours surrounding Inter Milan. The potential comings and goings and reasons behind the move.

Inter Milan: Coming In

Bacary Sagna

Bacary Sagna

Sagna has been out of action since he fractured his leg against Norwich in May and is only just returning to first team training. But with the emergence of Carl Jenkinson it doesn't look like the French international will be able to just walk back in to the starting XI, that fact combined with his public outburst condemning Arsenals transfer policy has put Inter Milan on alert. Although Sagna is under contract with the North London club until 2014 Inter will be hopeful of luring the defender to the San Siro to help strengthen their much depleted squad.

Nicolai Boilesen

Niolai Boilesen

Another defender that Inter are reportedly interested in is Ajax left-back Nicolai Boilesen. There was some speculation that the highly rated 20-year-old would join the Italian giants during the last summer transfer window. If Inter were to pursue the defender in January is would signify a welcomed changed to their financially unsustainable transfer policy of bringing in more expensive experienced players instead of young players with potential.

Moussa Sissoko

The 23-year-old Toulouse starlet is in the final year of his contract and would be a sound acquisition for the Italian club. Adding much needed strength and athleticism into their midfield. He was a reported summer target for Inter and there is no sign of them dropping their interest in the talented young player.

Andre Ayew

Reports coming out of France suggest that Inter are in the lead to sign Ghana international Andre Ayew. Marseille are looking for around ₤14 million for the winger who is the son of legend Abedi Pele. Inter will have to fight off competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona if they are to land the 22-year-old.

Paulinho

Paulinho

Another reported summer target was Paulinho, but the 24-year-old Brazil international opted to remain in his homeland. It seems that the player may now have had a change of heart, telling La Gazzetta delo Sport “Over the summer, Inter were the only club that came to Sao Paulo and put a concrete offer to me, but I wasn't ready to leave my home and go to Europe, so I chose to stay. I also felt I owned a debt to Corinthians, as we had just won the Copa Libertadores. I hope Inter Understood.”

Inter Milan: Going out

Wesley Sneijder

The Dutch midfield maestro has long been linked with a move away from the San Siro, most frequently Manchester United. Although stating that he is happy at Inter he has been quoted in the past saying “Only God will decide where my future lies” leaving the door open for a potential move.

Esteban Cambiasso

Esteban Cambiasso

A reported target again for Manchester United who are looking to add some much needed strength and grit to their midfield. Caught Offside says the Serie A side are prepared to offload the Argentinian veteran and that Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of the player.

Dejan Stankovic

Dejan Stankovic

Stankovic was thought to be leaving Inter during the summer but a move away from the Italian giants never materialised. Inter Milan want to lower their wage bill after they failed to qualify for this seasons Champions League and with Stankovic earning a reported €3.5 million at the age of 33 he was a prime candidate to face the axe, a January move away from the club can not be ruled because of that fact.

Mariga

Mariga

Has only made 20 appearances since joining Inter in February 2010 and his since been loaned out to Real Sociedad and also Parma. Still only 25 the Kenyan international may look to another club to gain more first team opportunities.
